Brian & Jaclyn’s Mom created the sweetest proposal plan together & I was SO excited to capture it. Brian and I met the week before and picked our spot in Bayfront Park and talked about how everything would happen & discussed all the particulars, even down to making sure she wasn’t wearing her purse in the park 🙂 I was waiting on a park bench with my gear hidden waiting for them to walk in front of me. He was supposed to snuggle with her for a minute (so I could get in proper position) and then he would get on one knee. What happened instead is one of these sweet young girls in the background saw them (didn’t see me at first) and offered to take their photo!! This threw things off a little and I have to hand it to Brian because he completely kept his cool & handed the girl his phone while I jumped behind a tree 🙂 The girl noticed me and realized what was about to happen so she switched to film video and then magic unfolded. Jaclyn was completely surprised, and meanwhile their families and friends were watching all of it from across the water at Marina Jack’s. I LOVE capturing proposals & this one was maybe my favorite so far!

After Jake proposed to Kristina at the Ringling Bridge, we knew this would be the perfect location for their engagement session! Add in their precious pup and the session was magical. I LOVE spending an engagement session walking around a location, getting to know my clients and capturing their relationship. I also love seeing a couple just absolutely giddy to be together like these two!
Rachel & Thomas have been visiting Sarasota and Longboat Key for years together so it seemed like the perfect place for Thomas to propose! Then we all celebrated with a beautiful engagement session on the magical beach at Beer Can Island. Side note, can we all officially change the name of this gorgeous location? Maybe Driftwood Island, or Magical Island? Because this place is pure magic, especially in the evenings. I’m so excited for this sweet couple and their future together!
There are so many reasons why I recommend including an engagement session in your wedding packages. It’s a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera, have time to shoot at different locations than your wedding venue, get to know me and how much fun I am (yes!!) and probably most important, it’s time to just relax and get excited with your future partner!! A lot of my clients hire me from out of state so they don’t think an engagement session is necessary or possible, but if you’re coming to town to do a menu tasting, venue walk-thru or to start working on that wedding day glow then let’s go do some engagement photos! That’s exactly how New Yorkers Kelley & Marcel squeezed this session in and we are all so happy they did.
There is nothing more exciting and nerve-wracking than shooting the moment when someone asks their person to say yes to forever! And honestly, is there a more beautiful place to do it than the magical beach at Beer Can Island? This sweet couple was visiting from Pennsylvania & headed to what she thought was a quick stroll on the beach before dinner. Right when she started getting hungry and confused as to why he was taking her down a path of mangroves, he dropped to his knee while I was essentially hiding behind a tree. Then we had so much fun wandering the beach and celebrating together. Congratulations Phil & Chelsea!!
